Lolwut?

Ive given up on my habit of ranting here. its a sad fact I guess. but I hate that the letter after a fullstop doesnt capitalize itself here. just like this 'j' of 'just' didnt capitalize. so anyways... I still have a really really bad habit of excessive use of articles in my sentences. one of my teachers pointed this out when I was in my second year that I need to cut down on the dosage of articles use in my sentences. SHIT. i just recalled he hated the use of 'medical jargon' in my sentences too. I just used 'dosage' HAHAHA. I cant believe it. that was so not intentional. it just... happened. this is funny. do you guys ever feel like an exact same feeling or scene from your past life gets played in the same mode, same place and exact same manner in your present life? I feel that so much. I sometimes spend a whole day recalling where did I hear this before by this exact same person. feels so weird.

and you thought I had decided not to rant here. hehehe. you fools.

wow. mind blown.

All of me loves all of you. love your curves and all your edges. all your perfect imperfections.

how is this a love song? this is seriously messed up. At first he's all lovey dovey f  ryou but in the very second line, he has the nerve to call you, his very own precious cuddly bae, FAT (curves and edges??) . Like dudeee stahp. are you kidding me? how can you just call me fat after telling me you love me? is this how you treat your lover? okay if I ignore this for being this person's first mistake (which Im sure was deliberate), he then goes on to calling you Perfect and Imperfect at the same time. what is this confusing shit? whose emotion is he trying to toy with, eh? after being 'oh Im so in love with you', he's like 'wait you are perfect but you are not PERFECT perfect, okay?'.  sheesh. This is so not cool. I protest.

The Fault In Us All

They say you have to be in someone's shoes to feel their agony. I say you have to love them enough to feel that same pain. I may be wrong but death is a feeling that almost all of us are somehow familiarized with. Whether by losing a family member or a relative, we all come to know the varying levels of pain and fear that comes with the inevitable stage of death.

I read 'The Fault in Our Stars' a few weeks back and had been gathering up my feels to write a review on it. I took alot (when I say alot it means ALOT cause I like to think Im a fast reader) of time in finishing that novel partly because I didnt want to continue. you ask why? I'll tell you. I have a hard time going through reading stuff that is painfully depressing. Sorry to spoil your fun but yes, the story will pierce through your heart like a bullet but at the same time give you a roller coaster ride of humor and reality of life and death through the characters. The strong and vivid imagery and symbols of the novel allow you to create a picture in mind and feel the emotions depicted in them. you'll say every novel tries to do that. Every novel tries to depict human emotions and evoke a certain sympathy for the characters. This one doesnt.
Characters do not, rather never ask for your sympathy. They are always brave and jovial (atleast on the outside) about their illness. They're always joking around as if its nothing to be afflicted by a dangerous disease called Cancer. This cantankerous tumor doesnt budge the liveliness that the characters possess.

Hazel Grace, the main lead and the only heroine of the novel, is a sixteen year old battling with cancer. She carries an oxygen tank around with her. wherever she goes, she has to drag it with her. She keeps thinking she is a problem child for her mum and is a symbol of ambiguous feelings of wanting to live and wanting to die at the same time. She becomes alive with the powerful feeling called love. The person who becomes the most important person in her life to share her exact feelings of being ill is Augustus Waters. Waters is also a teenager with only one leg having lost the other one in his battle with cancer. He is described to be a handsomely rugged guy with a voice that can call upon heavens and make it rain. Waters and Grace develop a strong chemistry with each other and spend their time together to find out how much familiarity they have in them. Not only the illness connects them but also their likes and dislikes, their feelings about certain things in life and their approach to battle cancer.

The novel was a sweet and sour ride of what it's like to be a person afflicted with a horrendous disease and how difficult it is to be a parent of such children. The parts where the writer discussed the helplessness of Hazel and her parents brought tears to my eyes. A person who has gone through this or a person who has seen a loved one suffer needs a lot of courage to go through the same pain again while reading this. At the same time, people who know about the pain of cancer and its patients can relate to the book with an alacrity that might be missing in other people. The writer has anyhow managed to skillfully arouse our emotions and love for the characters and you feel like doing something for humanity. To arouse that feeling is, I guess, an achievement in itself.
PS: waiting desperately for its movie to hit the theaters.
PPS: the couple in the movie is so cute I might cry again.

Missing Mode On

Going to miss all my tweeps. with whom I have laughed. with whom Ive fought and argued over petty things. They were the reason I stayed, They were the reason I came back. They always make me smile even if they know Im being a snorty little hag.
Going to miss my football tweeps. All those with whom Ive argued and fought like a maniac and yelled (Capslocked) my heart out that Barcelona and Messi are awesome and unbeatable. haha. I need to put all that behind now. those are memories though, lovely memories.
Going to specially miss my #TeamJawniz and all those special ones who cared to tell me that my tweets are awesome. that my avi was good or bad or when I was 'High' and should have gone to sleep. haha. My #TeamJawniz is awesome. J, AF, AH, SJ, H, ND, ZH, HF and Groovy. these people are awesome. I wish I could wrap them in a parcel and keep them with me forever.

Life Is Changin' Yo!

Life is going to change. After a Month I'd have different relationships, different responsibilities and different people to take care of. They would be like family.
Family reminds me of my sis who is abroad and cant come to Pakistan to attend my Nikkah. Its killing me. she misses it too. I miss her. We dont say anything but I hate it. Who misses the Nikkah of their siblings? Allah, please help us out. I know you do everything for a reason but If she can come I'd be really thankful to You. if not, I'd still be thankful cuz Your Decisions are Great.
Im freaking out. I literally am. I have to keep my mind focused on trivial stuff to keep myself happy. I am happy but the stress is part and parcel of the relationship I am going to be in after a month. May Allah bless Me and my family. Always.

Blogpost on Umera Ahmed

CHARM OF UMERA AHMED’S DRAMAS

The name “Umera Ahmed” needs no introduction since it has created a place of its own among the giants of Urdu prose. Drama channels provided a platform to writers like Umera Ahmed to display their work and the moment people watched her first drama, they were spell-bound. Meri  Zaat  Zarra-e-Benishan, Doraha, Maat, Daam, Durr e Shehwar, Shehre Zaat and the most recent serial Zindagi Gulzar Hai have taken the level of Urdu dramas to a zenith.

The themes of her dramas revolve around family, relationships, religion, the society and its hypocrisy. She owns a deep insight into the psychology of humans and thus she pens down all the intricacies that go in the mind of a man, woman or even a teenager. It is a wonder as to how she can depict the story from a man’s perspective as well as a woman’s with sheer brilliance and alacrity. Her characters in the dramas, specially the woman, acquire a special place in the dramas and in the hearts of her audience. She makes people fall in love, hate and jealousy with the characters and puts to test our various human emotions for them.

Urdu language was losing its charm when Pakistani channels started broadcasting Indian dramas and displayed a dire need of Pakistani content. Umera Ahmed came to the rescue of Pakistani culture and content with her novels and her beautiful stories and got people addicted to Pakistani media. Her art knows no bounds when it comes to teaching society moral values and breaking all sorts of stereotypes regarding men and women. Her dramas create a whole new world of fiction, imagination and at the same time, make us believe that it is all real. She has a charm to create stories that last in the mind of audience for a long time.

(The page to which I submitted this article selected some other article which had to my surprise a terrible sentence structure and grammatical errors. anyways. here's my take on the legendary Umera Jee.)

Day 5 (Darn it) of Deactivation

Why do people act like smart asses? ALL THE FRIGGIN TIME. Pakistanis are soooo addicted to being smart asses that they cant answer straight. They think their level of wit and sarcasm is so good that whatever shit they are going to utter is going to be so delightfully funny that anybody who wouldnt agree with them would be ostracized as dumb. No. thats not how this world works. maybe it does. some special sort of douchepickles are present everywhere. Some people running those Facebook pages like Memeabad are some examples. Khair...
I forgot to write my blogpost yesterday. rather, I was so lost in watching Breaking Bad that I lost the track of time and didnt recall to open my blog page. Regarding Breaking bad, this is one hell of a series. Once I am done watching this, imma write a whole blogpost regarding it. It deserves it. the characters, the plot, the themes and every other thing is well synchronized and makes it even more awesome. Im trying to download the 3rd season of Breaking Bad now. I hope it downloads already so I can continue with the adventure.

Day 3 of Deactivation

Please bear with the title of these blogs, the addiction will take it's time to wear off K? Soooo. Today was fine. the usual. the interesting bit was that my cousin introduced me to this competition to write a 300 words article on Umera Ahmed for a drama page on Facebook. Since it is already established that Umera Ahmed is the J K Rowling of Urdu dramas, I was more than happy to write about her and her dramas. I wish it gets approved not cause the winners (top 3) would get 500 Rs. worth of balance card for their mobile (HAHAHHA WHAT!?) but cause I wanted to write about her and pay homage to one of the most fantastic writers of Urdu. I'll be brutally honest with you guys if I say I didnt read anything in Urdu for the past so many years since my interest never developed in the language itself. Umera Ahmed changed that for me. The moment I started reading Peer e Kamil, I knew I was in for a fantastic reading ride. She has a great understanding of religion, people, relationships and other troubles of human life.
Anyways, If it gets published or something Imma share the link or the article itself here. till then, toodles.

Day 2 of Deactivation

Those little things people do to remind you that you are still wanted in this world makes you feel so special. Be it a text message, a call or even an email.. Anything that says "I miss you" gives you the best feeling ever. Friends. precious. soulful. sweet natured. taking your bullshit and laughing it off. cheering you up. laughing with you. laughing at you. being naughty with you. Friends. I am blessed to have such friends. I feel bad for not returning the same kind of love and attention my friends shower upon me. Thank you S and J.

I slept at 1 am (BIG BIG MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT) but then I woke up at 4.30 am (WOW WHATTAY ACHIEVEMENT) and then I had my egg mayo sandwich. Tried to find Knorr in the cabinets but turns out that my mum ate the last packet so thats that. what else... yes I am missing my tweeps..how can I not? they
are funny, they make me laugh, I fight with them and they are the reason why I stuck on Twitter for so long. okay shut up already Im starting to miss them to the point of making myself sentimental. so Adios and hoping to give my blog page it's much deserved time now.

Babble away my girl!

Am I the only one hating my life right now? even while writing this post, all the typos that Im committing are irking me to the extent that I want to kill myself. Too much pessimism, eh? Cant help it. seriously it's not my fault. If you're a Pakistani, you are surrounded by strangely stifling negative vibes. It's even hard to breathe when you are outside, standing at a bus stop, waiting for a bus thinking that you don't get mugged by looters or you dont become a victim of a bullet meant for someone else (at least that's what I would like to think).

Writing while listening to music is sweet. sometimes painful. sometimes you crave for silence, sometimes that silence craves for you. am I making any sense to you?Yes I am. If not, You wont be reading this right now. write now. right now. wut. lulz.

What a Waar!

They say "You have to see it to believe it". This does not apply on the movie "Waar". People had already created a lot of hype about the movie. The trailer had grasped audience attention and it was very much awaited by all.
I watched it today. After at least three weeks of it's release and reading spoilers (thanks to Twitter ofcourse) about the movie I finally watched it. and what a experience it has been. I am still spell-bound by the acting, cinematography, the sound effects and the music. Everything left its permanent charm on me. I couldn't really imagine it was Bilal Lashari's debut film. I'd like to first highlight the positives (and believe me it has many) of the movie.

Positives:
Shaan: Our Hero. I could easily say "agaya tey chah  gaya thaa kar ke" for him. Every single dialogue he uttered was so captivating, filled with emotions and so heartfelt that I felt goosebumps whenever he had a scene with the villain Shamoon Abbasi (ill come to him later). His sober acting suited his character so well that one could feel his pain almost exactly the same way. Shaan lived up to his character. I still cant find any weak points in his role.

Hamza Ali Abbasi: my newest crush ever ofcourse. Lol. I always knew he was a good actor. Having watched him in his drama "Mere Dard ko Jo Zubaan Milay" playing an extremely convincing negative role, I knew this guy had potential. Bilal Lashari saw that too. Hamza Ali Abbasi is everything you want in a movie or in a (side) hero. He has got looks (hayee), he has got talent and he has got what it takes to become a great actor. His speech that he gives to his soldiers "Tau tyaar ho dikhanay kai liye apne dushmanon ko kai ham tyaar hain, iss Dharti maa kai betay qurbani kai liye tyaar hain, Naara e Takbeer ALLAH HU AKBAR" That Speech is what made me fall in love with his character. I was moved to tears and I wanted to yell "Allah Hu Akbar" with him! He played a police officer's role perfect to the core. The only thing I would have wanted was Abbasi's fighting sequence with one of the villains but nonetheless,I have no complains.

Ali Azmat: I really thought Ali Azmat had a strong character in the movie. He had. I still cant recall his acting skills the way I can of Shaan and Hamza Abbasi though. He could have really worked on his diction and accent though. He talked like one of those weird jageerdar politicians of a town we all hate and thus it was difficult for me to see him as a positive character. saying "waqt" as "Waq-qat" and "Quaid" as "Qaa-yad" was not cool.

Aisha Khan: beauty with brains would be a perfect title for this lady. She has it all. Just like Hamza Ali Abbasi, she did not fail to make her mark in the movie. Her acting skills shown through every single scene she appeared in. The only exaggerated part was where she suddenly turns into one of the members of a Bomb Disposal Squad ( if Im not wrong she just worked as an Intelligence officer and trained for shooting and DIDNT deal with explosives). Nevertheless, Her scene after Hamza Ali Abbasi's death (oh shut up, y'all must have watched it by now so this is not a spoiler :P) was so so real, I couldnt hold my tears back and me and my mum were crying in unison with her. Thank you for those tears, Aisha.

Meesha: Lakhsmi aka Meesha Shafi. I have a strong disliking for her cause I think she can not act and she was just there to fill in the X-factor of that movie (as if there was any need). I wont be giving her due credit if I said I didnt like her acting in this movie. She did well. Created a negative vibe around her and made us fall in hate with her. Thats enough, my dislike doesnt allow me to proceed further on Lakshmi Bai.

Shamoon Abbasi: You know that feeling you get where you fall in love with the hero as well as the villain? that was what Shamoon did to me. What an actor. truly inspiring. If anything, Bilal Lashari needs to be proud of casting him for a villainous role. He lived the character to its fullest, made us hate him and made his presence felt. He was everything a villain should be. The only thing I would have wanted was Shaan to beat him to a miserable and more cruel death (yeah didnt we just hate him that much?)

Negatives:

Well the only negatives I found are regarding the accents of the actors. Pushtoons speak in Urdu in a Punjabi accent (I mean seriously, what was that?). The fighting scene between Shaan and Shamoon was really really cut down to a minimal. I swear the director should have extended it to a 5 mins scene and nobody would have questioned it. The dance scene between Meesha Shafi and Shamoon Abbas was a bit over-board. I mean Shamoon could have been shown singing "Ni Swan Song tu meri meri, main tera Rawal Rawal" for Meesha and it would have looked fine.

I could go on and on about how the fighting scenes, the locations and the background music were shot to perfection. Waar truly is what our Pakistani Cinema needed. Shoaib Mansoor opened the doors for the young talent to step forward and shine and thats what Bilal Lashari did. Kudos to him. I was sure I won't be alone in applauding the movie after the credits appeared and the audience would clap along with me and guess what? I wasn't wrong.

"Dont create a fuss if someone abuses on twitter."

I am always told this by my Twitter friends to calm myself down when someone abuses on Twitter in their random tweets. "BC kaisa hai?" "salay b***** tu ne reply kyun nai kia". Okay I agree guys in general talk like that. not a biggie. maybe its usual for them. maybe their friendship requires a certain "you have to abuse otherwise you are not among us" rule to be followed. but what's with girls? I dont recall saying to my friends "aur B******* kaisi hai?" or randomly throwing your mom is so fat jokes at them. no. I wasn't ever taught that. I dont know. I wont say I dont use abusive language. I do. but, shouldnt there be a limit to it? I mean. Its okay to use abusive language with your besties and they need to be girls. but girls calling their guy friend "BC and Haram*****" is so uncool. big big problem there. The other day, I read a tweet like "hey mother******, how are ya?" by a girl. okay. after a few days I had this to ask to people on Twitter. "If a person calls someone "mother******", should they call their dad that too? since it sounds extremely legit.". obviously. nobody answered.
Abusive language is only fun when its done in private and not used in public to be counted among the "kewl pepol". if abusing is uber cool to you and then I wonder what would you teach your kids to call you... "oye chakkay abba, idhar ayen zara" probably.

Rape is not Funny

they would call me a butt-hurt and told me to grow up when I stopped them from cracking any rape or Cancer jokes. I always thought it must feel weird If I were a rape victim or a cancer patient (God Forbid) to sit among people who think these are some frivolous subjects to be made fun of. Once, my pet died because of fever and I had become every sentimental and frenzied whenever someone mentioned fever in my house. These were my feelings for a pet. A thing that cant think, talk back to us or respond to our moods in the same manner as ours. A cat for example, still understands when you are in a bad mood, or when you want to shower love for them. The way they purr or meow in different pitches informs us to an extent what a cat wants. If we can understand animal psychology then why not make some effort to understand human's? Human emotions should be the easiest to understand since we all interact with our family members, cousins, relatives and friends the whole time. Humans should always prove themselves to be humans. Human emotions should be taken care of. One should choose their words carefully, utter things that don't become a sensitive matter for others and be a little more tactful while cracking jokes. every topic is not funny. Rape is one of them.

Facebooking your Life

I always wonder what pleasure does it provide people in letting others know where they are dining with their beloved ones, where they are shopping for the summer and why they tag a friend in a status when he or she is sitting right beside them the whole time. Facebook does it to you ladies and gentleman. Facebook, a social network where people post about their problems, their love for their husband/wife and love for their non-facebooking parents. It is strange that all of us are deeply lost in posting about our likes and dislikes over social networks like Facebook, Twitter and other such social networking websites. What has resulted this situation? according to me, I think its the lack of communication with loved ones and our friends. Before we indulged ourselves into these websites, we used to rejoice going to a fun place with our family, with our friends and talk with our best friends about a new experience. Now, we have subjected ourselves to talking to our friends via Twitter and Facebook only. The importance of meeting up with our friends is only highlighted when we meet up at a restaurant. Even during that event, we spend our time taking pics the whole time cause it will make a cool album on Facebook or a perfect DP. I sometimes, don't even enjoy conversations with my friends cause all they have to tell me is that someone posted a pic of their chacha ki beti ki marriage pic and the groom didn't look good enough with the bride in the pictures. Amusingly, the pictures are supposed to have "privacy settings" for the friends and family but my friends somehow dig out pics to satisfy their officious desires.

I wish the old times come back, when we used to visit our friends place just to rant about our siblings, our teachers and sometimes our parents too. Those old times when we enjoyed talking to each other about ourselves, not about what others were doing in their life. Times when a conversation with our best friends was the most fun and blessed thing to happen to us in comparison to the happiness we now get in receiving a hundred likes over a pic. Someone was right when they said," Old is Gold".

A Moment of Realization

No. You aren't a part of my life anymore. stay away from me. please. thats all i am asking you to do. please. I had to come and rant on my blog cause that's all I wanted to do right now. yell. scream. shout out loud. whatever could lighten me up and relax me. watching a comedy movie would be a good choice. maybe not. maybe. will decide that later. people care. they actually do. thats what makes you realize there still are people alive in this world who want to be a part of someone's happiness. not just to be officious or nosy but actually to show they love, to show they care, to show they are still there for you to cry on their shoulder, to show you are not alone, to show they can always put a smile on my face, to show no matter what happens they will cheer me up, to show they can take my bull shit and throw it away with a flippant behavior and pretend as if it didnt matter to them, to show that my rudeness as a result of my anger will never effect them, to show they are much more humane than anybody else alive in this world. These people make me feel alive, to trust in humanity once more, to live with a hope that all's not lost yet, to believe that everything is fine and will be fine again. That is ladies and gentleman, a moment of recognition.

My Voice as a Pakistani

Okay, you might find this blog is written in bit of a patriotic frenzy and some of it might not make sense to you but every year I have to come across some of the most obnoxious things ever. Every year, I have to argue (rather fight) with some early-twenties pseudo-intellectuals about how Pakistan is a land of opportunities corrupted by our very own faults and not a land inherent with malignant atrocities since its birth. The argument from their side always starts with the worse: "The partition was a mistake, Pakistan should have never landed as a separate entity at all, We would have been better off as Indians." When I first came across this idea, I was almost left speechless, thinking what sort of mind could conceive a thought like this and completely overlook all the sacrifices and bloodshed that caused us a free land.

Muslims, are different from Hindus, that is very much a established fact. If Indians are considered to be an epitome of peace, intellect and patience for every race and culture (this can be contested), it was not like that in the 1930-40's. I am definitely weak at history and giving any cogent examples to defend my argument but I know one thing: I am a Pakistani and will die as a Pakistani. If my ancestors decided to land into Pakistan for their betterment and even if something has gone wrong since then, It's my duty to stand up and take charge. It is my duty to change the whole disgusted scenario my country has to face. It's definitely my job to point out faults of my people but it's also my job to do my own part first in order to preach others about doing good. I am terribly disturbed with the psyche of youngsters planning to leave Pakistan for good cause this country is not allowing them to excel in their life. It is the people who need to be changed, not the land. If its in your hands to mold your future according to your liking then it is also your responsibility to improve the condition of your people and your own country. If something goes wrong in your family then you surely don't leave them behind and run away, do you? If that's what you do then you are most welcome to leave this country to people who care for it and still have a glimmering hope that this will become a safer, better and beautiful land for every one to live in.

I have this sudden urge to repeat what ex-PM Yousaf Raza Gillani once said to a reporter from CNN (the context was different though but anyways)," why don't they just leave then? who's stopping them?".

Andddd It's Gone.

So Eid Mubarak Everyone. Hope your Ramzaan and eid went well. The third day of Meethi Eid has finished now but I still wanna enjoy some more. The third day was quite boring to be honest. I couldnt go visit a certain relative cause some other relatives of mine had already invaded the house of that person. Never mind. I sorta miss the Ramzaan feel now when it's gone. I followed a certain routine, a patterned life style and a way of living that I should be following the whole year around. I am some how disappointed that Ramzaan doesnt have an alrernative pattern. Well, I need to reevaluate this because I dont think I would have followed the pattern perfectly if that was the case. I need to turn myself into a better person and Muslim first to follow the set path of piousness.

My mind is sleepy right now I guess. or may be too many ideas have taken place at the same time. I  shoul dgo and figure out what should be the topic to my next blogpost and meanwhile you need to turn your stove off. Salaan na Jal jayay.

A Man's World

I can't believe we are 18 Rozas down already! Ramzaan is flying away so fast! okay so what did I have to rant about today? oh yeah, some Douchey men. Why do some men marry a girl who wears a hijab and is properly burqa-clad and then after marriage force her to take off her burqa and wear sleeveless shirts? I mean what is the logic behind it? They generally defend the psyche by saying, "mai tumhara shohar hoon, jaisa mai kahun waisa karo, mere liye tyaar ho." Okay fine. but why do you even pick a girl to marry who was wearing a burqa out of her own choice? Nobody forced it on her, it was her choice, it made her happy. So after marrying your pathetic thickheadedness, she doesn't even have a right to do what she wants to do? or even wear what she feels comfortable in? This just beats me. Men in Pakistan have a weird sort of narrow-mindedness that women have to bear all their lives. It is okay for a guy to keep in contact with his unmarried female friends but it is blasphemous if their wife does the same with her male friends. He is even allowed to honour-kill her if he has to. Why such double standards? WHY WHY WHY!? Probably they are right when they say it's a man's world out there.
